Messed up cables

Well I started a nice white sweater for myself a while ago and realized that I messed up the cables.  I am going to rip it back and start over.

Fingerstache

IMAG0403.jpg, originally uploaded by girltrekkie.

I haven't been posting here in a year obviously. I started a new blog about the loss of my baby boy and figured I might as well document my knitting on here again. Since I'm blogging anyway.

I've been knitting up fingerstaches like crazy. They are quick, easy and I've taught myself intarsia techniques. Pretty cool. Here is a pic of all of the ones I've completed so far. I've been knitting them for 2 days now and this is how many I've made!!

I honestly have no idea if my intarsia is correct or not, but it gets the job done. I'm sure my backsides are kind of messy. But hey, I'm the sloppy knitter so it's okay!

Yarn Shopping Spree

I went a little crazy buying yarn today. I purchased 3 skeins of Spud & Chloe Outer, as well as the Li'l Man Vest pattern, all from Jimmy Beans Wool. I'm a fan of them so far because my very first online order from them went well. I had ordered a skein of grass for Ribbit and I thought they were very friendly and I was happy with my transaction. In addition, they gave me a coupon for free shipping for my next order so I HAD to order from them!! Also I went to Knit Picks and picked out some yarn. I bought some Knit Picks Wool of the Andes and some Knit Pick Wool of the Andes Bulky. I'm going to make the French Press Slippers (oops did I mention I bought that pattern from Ravelry?) and the Shalom Cardigan. I have a lot of knitting ahead of me with all of this yummy yarn! Woohoo!

This month I've knit about 4 dishclothes and a Ribbit. Here is where the "sloppy" knitting stories come in! On one of the BallBand Dishcloths I accidentally knit a slip stitch a row early. It's pretty visible. I was too lazy to go back and fix it. I mean really..it's only a dishcloth. Then with Ribbit I made a huge mistake!!! I had all the parts ready to go. So I sewed on his arms and legs. Then I went to attach the head. After it was all together I couldn't figure out why the arms and legs weren't sitting right. I then realized that I had put his head on the wrong side of the body. Did I fix it?? NO of course not. I left it. Ribbit now has personality! Here is a pic of Ribbit:

See how his little arms don't sit flat against his body?? That's because they are upside down LOL!

The Sloppy Knitter Starts a Blog

I'm not sure what is inspring me to start this blog. I've really gotten into my knitting again lately and am really loving all of the knitting blogs out there. What I find though is that a lot of those blogs don't really speak to me. I love them, they produce beautiful work and they are fun to read, but they aren't my kind of knitters. I'm sloppy, I lose my knitting needles on a daily basis, I once stepped on a needle and stabbed my foot with about 1 inch of knitting needle (OUCH), and my yarn stash looks like a tornado ran through it. In addition my knitting can be sloppy. The other day I was working on Legwarmies and was just doing the finishing. I was using a needle to hide my ends. Then I grabbed the scissors to snip off the end of the yarn. Not only did I snip off the yarn, but I also snipped out some of the stitches from the other side of my work. I couldn't believe how stupid that was. So me, instead of backtracking and redoing the work, I just decided to sew up those stitches. I mean after all the Legwarmies were only for my 2 year old niece. Would she really care that I sewed up the snipped stitches rather than redid them? Of course not. But I tend to think that all other knitters would take the time to unravel to the row they snipped out and fix their mistake. Am I wrong? Have any of you fudged some stuff like that??? Let's not even get into my version of seaming! That is another whole blog post! As soon as I figure out how to add photos to this darned blog I'll post a photo of the Legwarmies.

Oh never mind I think I just figured it out! Here are the Legwarmies. Can you tell I messed up and fudged it????

My knitting news for today is that I just bought my first skein of yarn EVER online! I saw this pattern for Ribbit and knew I had to make him. I really wanted to try some new things and some new yarn. So I bought the Spud & Chloe Sweater yarn at Jimmy Beans Wool. The yarn is beautiful. After I ordered I received a coupon with my receipt for free shipping on my next order if I order by 4/30/10. I'll definitely be finding something else I need! The yarn was $12.40 and the shipping was $4.00. My total order was $16.40. Okay I don't usually spend that much on yarn, but it was kind of fun! I can't wait to check it out!
